Course Overview
This US Coast Guard – approved course is designed to provide delegates with training in safe launch and recovery operations and rescue of personnel who have fallen overboard or are in peril at sea. The course covers boat handing, course plotting and search and rescue.

Target Audience
Seafarers who are required to take charge of survival craft or rescue boat in emergency situations during and after launch

Certification & Revalidation
STCW/Coast Guard approved certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the course. No revalidation required.

• Rescue Preparations
• Proper use of equipment
• Teamwork for success
• Makeup of rescue teams
• Actions in person overboard scenarios
• Control center team functioning
• Search planning
• Types of search patters
• Plot and position
• Setting up search procedures
• Water entry and rescue swimming
• Demobilizing equipment and making ready

This course is delivered at Texas A&M University's Galveston Maritime Academy

Items to Bring
Students will need to bring a valid photo ID, a towel, closed-toe shoes for boat exercises and a change of clothing.
